"Land & People of the Willamette Valley: a History Shaped by the River" Exhibit Grand Opening

  • Museum of the Oregon Territory 211 Tumwater Drive Oregon City, OR, 97045 (map)

Join us at the Museum of the Oregon Territory as we unveil our newest permanent exhibit "Land & People of the Willamette Valley: a History Shaped by the River." Discover the people who shaped the Willamette Valley—from Indigenous People to settlers of many cultures. Learn how the river nourished farms, powered industries, and built communities. Explore stories of diversity, innovation, and ongoing restoration efforts. Watch oral histories of what the river means to people and tap on a telegraph key to send a message in Morse Code.

Hear from special guests, including Oregon City’s Mayor Denyse McGriff and tribal member Cultural Policy Analyst Greg Archuleta from the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde, as they kick off the exhibit at 11 am. Then, dive in and explore the history and interactive experiences for yourself.
